Hiyaking in 2010

Fifth Year (2010):
A banner year for hiking. Not so great for kayaking. Seems harder and harder to haul the kayak out for a spin.
Another year, and yes another hiyak page to create. Time flies etc....
My stint as a Sierra Club hike leader continues. Though I limit it to 2 maybe 3 hikes a quarter. It's too much otherwise. But it is fun to meet new people and catch up with old friends. I tried to continue hiyaking's PDF slideshow format but found it too time consuming and have since discovered Facebook.
So now I post photo stories on Facebook. There are limitations but it is the path of the future to coin a hike pun.
My explorations into new and old trails continued unabaited and I can say I've done most at least once and many several times. I can also claim to be a stronger hiker finishing some I had failed to do before.
Kayaks may be few now, but I still play in the water since my friends Will & Tsuh have taught me how to snorkel. So I may start posting snorkeling photos instead of kayaking to fill the gap.
All in all, it still was a great year hiyaking. I met tons of new people. Filled my memory with new sights. And continued scratching that itch to snap a picture of what lies over the next pu'u (hill).
Like last year in the stories below you will continue to read of my restless sole (and soul) searching.
As always, Happy and Safe Hiyaking!
